At Sight Support Ryedale, we understand that navigating the digital world can be daunting for people living with sight loss. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our NEW DIGITAL INCLUSION WORKSHOPS - designed to give our members the skills, confidence and independence to use online technology in everyday life.
Digital Inclusion Workshops
Our workshops start with the basics and build up to practical, everyday digital skills.
Members will learn how to:
Turn on and set up mobile phones and tablets
Connect to Wi-Fi safely
Download and use apps such as:
- NHS - book appointments and reorder prescriptions
- Gov.UK – check local services like bin collections
Download and use accessibility apps such as:
- Be My Eyes
- Seeing AI
- Talk Back
Stay connected with family and friends
We’ll also help you make the most of the accessible technology already on your devices, ensuring your phone or computer is set up to meet your needs.
Locations and Dates
We’re grateful to the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority for generously funding our new Digital Inclusion Workshops. Thanks to their support, these sessions will be delivered across four local hubs – Malton, Pickering, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside.
Our Digital Champions will also be popping along to the Friendship Groups at Norton Hive Library and Community Hub every other Monday and Thursday, giving extra one‑to‑one help and support whenever it’s needed.

Become a Digital Inclusion Champion!
Our team at Sight Support Ryedale is small and to make these workshops a success we’re looking for some friendly volunteers to join us.
We’d love some enthusiastic people to step up as Digital Inclusion Champions, giving just two hours a week of their time. Don’t worry if you’re not a tech expert - you’ll complete training through Digital Unite to get you ready.
As a Digital Inclusion Champion, you’ll be helping our members with everyday digital skills like:
- Using tablets, iPads and phones
- Navigating websites
- Setting up accessibility features that make life easier
Our goal is to support our members to feel more confident and connected in the digital world.
Whether you’re keen to learn new skills yourself or simply want to help others get online, we’d love to hear from you.
