Sight Support Ryedale is inviting people from across Ryedale to a free community event raising awareness of sight loss and highlighting the advice, services and support available to people living with a visual impairment.
Taking place on Monday 21 September, 10.30 - 3.30 PM at Sight Support Ryedale, the event forms part of National Eye Health Week.
The event will bring together local and national organisations to help raise awareness of sight loss among people who live and work across Ryedale, as well as local businesses and community organisations.
A range of organisations will be attending, including Sight Loss Councils, the RNIB Eye Clinic Liaison Service (ECLO), Guide Dogs Volunteer Campaigns Team, Community First Yorkshire and North Yorkshire Council’s Sensory Team, alongside other local organisations.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives, ask questions and find out more about the support available.
There will also be informative talks, technology demonstrations, advice and guidance on living with sight loss and opportunities to learn more about services that can help people remain independent and confident.
Sight Support Ryedale members will also be attending to share their personal experiences of living with sight loss and demonstrate how the right support can make a difference to everyday life.
“We want this event to bring people together and raise awareness of sight loss across Ryedale. There is a wide range of support available, but many people may not know what is available or where to find it.
The event is an opportunity to meet the team and volunteers at Sight Support Ryedale, as well as other local organisations, discover the support available and learn more about living confidently and independently with sight loss.
Everyone is welcome."
Victoria Dean, Chief Officer - Sight Support Ryedale.
The event is free to attend, with lunch included and is open to anyone who would like to find out more about sight loss, support services and the work of Sight Support Ryedale.
Whether you are living with sight loss yourself, supporting a family member or friend, work with people who may benefit from support, or simply want to learn more, the team would be delighted to welcome you.
